The New Build Homebuy previously known as Shared Ownership is a scheme to help first time buyers get on the property ladder. Who can apply? Those that cannot afford to buy a property outright on the open market can apply to purchase a property through the New Build HomeBuy, however priority is normally given to existing Local Authority and Housing Association tenants.
 How does it work? You arrange a mortgage to purchase a share of the property this is usually between 25% and 75%, and pay rent to the Housing association on the share you do not buy. When you are able to you can purchase more shares until you own the property outright.
